Happiness is Home Made!

It's Valentine's weekend and love is in the air.

I thought to myself, what fantastical, romantic thing could I do on this fine occasion?

As the fourteenth of February fell on a Saturday, and this is the only day of the week I can really work, my choice was simple.

Work!

What better way to show my family I love them than by helping to provide for us?

How could I share love with others in a more profound manner than attending to their every need while improving their health?

I did my best to make life a little nicer for my patients.
  • I drew a heart on my patient's message board and wrote John Loves Allyce inside.
  • I offered drinks to a patient's family and made a fresh pot of coffee for her son.
  • I quickly checked blood for my coworkers and promptly helped them with their patients
  • I was kind on the phone with all Dr.'s and staff and expressed thanks for all help received

By 3pm I had hung countless medications and blood transfusions. I had spent 7.5 hrs of the last 8 in direct patient care, sitting only long enough to chart absolute essentials. All of a sudden I heard the excited whispers of a coworker saying, " Over here, over here." I look up and see 3 adorable little boys dressed in red shirts. Each boy had I "Heart" Mom on their cheeks. Each boy carried a poster board sized, lovingly painted valentine for mom.

That was it, my Valentine's Day was officially perfect!

Little Brian and his Valentine Master Piece!

Lincoln had just as much fun painting himself!

Griffin had no difficulty expressing himself!

Yes, there is no question that I am loved. All of my friends at work were amazed that a husband would undertake an hour drive and finger painting with three spunky boys, just to shower their mother with love. In these tough economic times it is important to remember that Happiness really is Home Made!

Oh Wendy that's fantastic! How fun for your boys! And good for you, trying to help others. I was having issues with Vday but after helping at the dance for all the SpEd kids in the city I had a whole other perspective!
Thanks for sharing!

I'm at a loss for words!! I feel the same way as your coworkers except I know the guy who pulled that all off. How amazing. That was a lot of brain power, energy, crativity and love. The boy slooked like they were in heaven too, which is very heart warming. yes, you are loved for sure!

OH!!! Hubby gets extra points for that one, indeed!! What a cool idea. I spent the day at work, but only for a little bit. Definitely not 8 hours worth! (And Porter did let me go sneak a pedicure after I got off work...:)) Anyway, You're a trooper, and you had a great attitude about it. The crafting boys look very very cute and happy.

Nice job, Brian! I had to work also, and my kids delivered sugar cookies... but I had to call and beg. :) Austin and I do like the opportunity to go out, express our love for each other, but V-day seems like the chocolate and greeting card industries made it up just to score a few bucks. A talk show I like said the average guy spends $140 bucks on the stinkin' holiday! Homemade is definitely best, and your boys did a fantastic job.

What sweet little Valentine's! I'm glad it was filled with ove even though you couldn't spend all day with your boys. Flowers die, chocolate gets eaten, but memories like this last forever!

Wow...that's awesome! :) Brian is officially my hero for that. It really is cool, and makes you feel so good when your guys think of you and do something special to let you know they love you.
