No Longer Tongue Tied

We have noticed that Brian has difficulty pronouncing S and R.
3rd Grade is the time S and R receive the attention they are entitled.
This year a thorough speech evaluation uncovered the root of Brian's dilemma,
He is, in fact, tongue tied!

With haste we sought an ENT surgeon to set Brian's tongue free.
Turns out, Kim found us one of 2010's Top AZ Surgeons.
This was quite comforting. This morning Brian went for his surgery to free him from this restriction.
He put on the clown fabric gown.
He selected the best stickers they had to offer.
The amazing Anesthesiologist waited to place his IV until he was asleep!

He championed the surgery in just 20 minutes.
Five little stitches that absorb over time.
He even pulled out his own IV.
When it was time to go, these guys got a real laugh.

I pulled out the keys for the car I didn't drive.
Attempted to push the key fob to locate it.
Absence of sound brought me to the realization I was looking for the wrong car.
To my surprise I was standing behind the car I did bring.

Further clues that mom did not cope well today:
I wore my shirt inside out.
Discovered 30 minutes after arriving at the surgical center.

I broke into tears as they wheeled my nervous boy away.
Wore my sunglasses so I could pretend no one would notice.

I let Brian be helped into the front seat.
He pointed out that I never let him sit in the front.
How long was it going to take before I recognized this problem?

I paid $3.49 for OJ at Einstein Bro's after the surgery
Anyone who pays that has a serious problem.

Drove my son to the mall at 9:30.
We walked in and I remembered the mall opens at 10.
I almost hit a car in the parking lot.
How close was it? I couldn't actually tell you.
I thought I was the only car there.

Resolution:
Next time my son goes into surgery
I will have someone else drive us!

I may be a nurse
But clearly my nerves are not impenetrable!

As I am finishing typing this up
Our favorite surgeon personally called to check on Brian.
Now that is quality service!

Rhyme Time

We were eating sandwiches and playing with words.
I felt like a great mom as my 5 year old continued to come up with rhyming words on his own. I thought in my mind, "Wow, he is so smart, it is great that he spontaneously thinks of these words."

Word: Plane
My answers: drain, strain, rain, insane
Griffin's answers: vane, Dane, train,cane,

Word: man
Answers me: , Tan, Can, Ran
Griff: Fan,Van
Griffin makes a sentence: "I am playing an awesome van rock song."

Word: sandwich
Me: Sand ditch
Griff: Sand Bi...
Well, I think you get the idea.
At first I tried to move along, and within a couple more examples the Sand B reemerged.
I was forced to explain "This was a word we don't use, it is a yucky word. Do not say it again."

Word: shut
Me: nut
Griff: cut
Lincoln: Butt.
This answer was followed by many little Lincoln giggles.
I took this as a sign. We can rhyme.
Rhyming time over.

Doesn't Everyone Love Wrinkles?

I am allergic to cats and most dogs.
Pet ownership has been at a low.
Then along came Wrinkles.
Wrinkles was my favorite Beanie Baby from my husband.
He was 20 bucks at the height of the Beanie Craze.
I decided to let the kids play with my treasured collection,
potential for child entertainment
exceeded monetary value.
It was hard to share Wrinkles with the kids, I wanted to keep him safe.
I think Griffin took a great liking to him because he knew he was my favorite.
The World Wide Web assured me
an additional Wrinkles could be purchased for a mere $3.99
and I decided I could share.
A decision I have not regretted.
Wrinkles is currently the treasured family pet.
Griffin has been creating forts with him.
Today I couldn't find Griffin.
I called out for him and he responded from under his bed,
the blanket was creating an underground fortress.
Griffin and all of his favorite stuffed friends were in seclusion.
I said, "Oh, are you building a fort under your bed?
Have you brought all your friends?"

Griff said, "I am giving Wrinkles aloneness time, because he wants to be alone."
Wrinkles has also been joining us on adventures.
Griffin leaves his back pack open
"So Wrinkles can breathe."
This afternoon Griff and Linc were outside
jumping on the trampoline.
Griff came in and said, "Can Wrinkles watch us?"
My reply, "No he will get dirty."
Griffin's answer?
"No he won't, he can watch us through the window!"
Griffin went outside and carefully examined Wrinkles.
Adjustments were made to ensure Wrinkles, was in fact,
Watching.
Like any great watch dog
He never even blinked!

Pulling All the Stops

Before telling you a story I must warn you:
The band aid on Lincoln's nose was placed because
He absolutely insisted that his itchy scratch required a band aid.
Lincoln: "Mom, I just spilled my cereal on the floor."
Me: "That's okay. Just pick it up."

Lincoln: "I can't my wrist really hurts right now."
Me: "Then use your other wrist. It isn't a big deal. You can do it."

Lincoln: "Well, my back hurts, so I really can't do it.
And my knee is hurt."
Me: "Lincoln, you have got to be kidding me!
You are hilarious.
Now pick up your cereal."

Lincoln: "O...kay."
He dutifully returned the cereal to the bowl.
However, he wasn't excited about it.

Inspired Or Ingenious?

I put Lincoln down for a nap.
30 minutes later he was still awake.
"I not take a nap."
"Heavenly Father does not want me
to take a nap."
How do I argue with that logic?
Or that adorable face?

It would be great if everything we want
We could declare that Heavenly Father wants it for us...

And it would be so.

Heavenly Father wants me to be a great mother.
Heavenly Father wants me to have lots of friends.
Heavenly Father wants me to be kind to others.
Heavenly Father wants me to be wealthy.

Okay 3 out of 4 isn't bad.
I think it is important to assert here...
Be careful what you wish for.

Beach Bums at Heart

It is safe to say my kids loved the beach
As much as I do

Waves were splashed
Sand toys were utilized
Bodies were buried
It is safe to say,
They loved the sand
More than I do

What is not to love about
Being buried in the sand?
I was almost tempted to try it myself.
ALMOST.
I am absolutely certain of one thing
We can't wait to go back!!!

We are Crazy about Disney

Our Disney vacation was nothing short of Incredible!!!
We flexed all our muscles
We enjoyed our status as honorary bugs
We took the plunge on Splash Mountain
We hung out with our BFF Mickey

Uncle Justin made a surprise appearance.
We met up with Uncle Justin and Jamison who just arrived.
We posed with the A.
A for Awesome.

Don't ask me why.
D would've been ideal.
They should spell Disney instead of California.
I'll write a letter.
Tutu and Papa survived
The Magical experience with us
Sometimes it seemed we were spinning in circles...
Other times we soared to new heights...
One thing is for certain...
We took fun to Infinity and Beyond!

Absolutely Dawsome

Is it possible I am this excited because we are going to
The Happiest Place on Earth?

Perhaps my enthusiasm comes from knowing how much fun my children will have on this Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Vacation.

Joy absolutely leaps from my heart
knowing how much my incredible in-laws have invested
in creating the ultimate family reunion experience.

People who know me well, know I hate to travel.
Actually, complete strangers
have seen me kicking and screaming out the window as they drive by.

Even if I am really excited about the opportunity for the trip....
am thrilled to see the people there...
I often find myself lamenting the journey.
Dragging my feet if you will.

Well, I am thrilled to report that is not the case this time.

Absolutely Dawsome Family Reunion...Here we come!

I haven't been on an honest to goodness, family vacation, since little Brian was 2 years old. After 2 attempts at week long beach vacations, it just seemed like more work than fun.

Fast forward 2 more kids and 6 years later, and our baby is 3. He is easy and best of all, he is "reasonable." Even if he disagrees with the plan, choices can be explained to him and he always comes to recognize that mom's idea is the best!!

I am so excited for this vacation!

I am so excited for this vacation!

I am so excited for this vacation!

Funny thing is, I didn't even type the above sentence 3 times,
I erased an image and tried to get it back, and that statement kept repeating,
But it echos my sentiments perfectly!

We can't wait to hit the beach
Disneyland shines brilliantly in the horizon.

Relaxation and Adventure with our favorite people?
Delightful!

Vacation are you here yet? We are ready!!!

Cinderella. Your Chariot Awaits.
Look out Prince Charming...
These boys are going to give you a run for your money!
